There was a moment of utter shock when I saw all the frames disappeared. I opened version history  to access older frames and luckly was able to retrieve them. This has happened multiple times as of now.

Hey @Rahul Padsalgi! This definitely sounds concerning, especially if it's happened more than once. I'm glad to hear you were able to recover them through version history.

To help us get to the bottom of this, I’d like to ask a few quick questions:

  • How frequently is this happening and when did it start?

  • Is this issue limited to a specific file, or are you seeing it across multiple files?

  • Are you working in the Figma desktop app, a browser, or both when this happens?

  • Have you had a chance to try resetting Figma or restarting to see if that helps?

In the meantime, you might also try switching to a different internet connection (like a mobile hotspot) to help rule out any network-related causes. If you're using a browser, testing in a different one — such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge — could also help determine if the issue is browser-specific.

I’ll do my best to get this resolved for you quickly!

This just happened to me as well, took it back to older version history but lost 2 hours worth of small detail work in the frames!!! So frustrating.

working in the figma desktop app for mac, wifi connection is fine.

This has also just happened to me. I went back to a project and frames, prototypes, etc, are gone leaving only the one frame that was open in the prototype view.

Hey everyone, thank you for flagging this!

To help us investigate further, could you please take a look at my earlier message in this thread and share a bit more information?

  • When did this issue start, and how often is it happening?

  • Is it limited to one specific file, or does it occur across multiple files?

  • Are you using the Figma desktop app, a browser, or both?

  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps yet, such as restarting or resetting Figma?

Once I have a bit more context, I can share this with our team internally to help pinpoint what’s going on.

@Cordelia King, were you able to restore the frames using version history? You can find more details on restoring previous versions here:Restore from version

Same problem

I have the same issue and it’s so frustrating. I thought I’m going crazy and didn’t really create anything. The issue has started maybe 2-3 months ago and still continues. It’s not limited to one file and occurs across multiple files. I’m using desktop app. Also, tried restarting Figma, yet unsuccessfully. As users above mentioned, I’ve barely managed to retract my frames from version history.

This is a huge problem for such a popular and important tool. Its main function is to keep your files and designs saved, not frames randomly disappearing. The problem has been occurring more frequently lately, and sometimes this happens with the same frame (it disappeared, I restored it, it vanished again, I restored again)

Kindly, do find a ghost stealing frames.

I have the same thing randomly happening. I start seeing frames being randomly selected and deleted, with no one else in the file.

I realized it only happens with the Figma MCP server is enabled!

Hi there!
Just happened to me either. The component-screen had become empty, in version history it was empty too, the only version saved the screen was the moment before it became a component.

Are there any new about this bug?

  • When did this issue start, and how often is it happening?
It happened once a month ago, and today again

  • Is it limited to one specific file, or does it occur across multiple files?
it occurs in two different files

  • Are you using the Figma desktop app, a browser, or both?
    Figma desktop app

  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps yet, such as restarting or resetting Figma?
yes, and it didnt help unfortunately

Hey @ellcanitel, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer all the questions, it’s genuinely helpful for understanding what’s going on.

One last thing I’d like to double-check: could you please confirm whether you’re running the latest version of the Figma Desktop app?

You can check by:

  1. Clicking Figma in the top menu bar on Mac, or the ⌄ menu on Windows

  2. Selecting Check for updates

We generally recommend staying on the latest version, as updates often include bug fixes and stability improvements. If you’re not on the most recent version, Figma should prompt you to update. If your device is managed by your company, you may need to reach out to your IT administrator for help with updating.

If you are already on the latest version and this is still happening, I can go ahead and create a support ticket on your behalf so the team can properly investigate this issue.

Hey @ellcanitel, thank you for checking that and for being so proactive!

I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf (#1695815) and shared all the details you’ve provided with the team so they can dig into what might be causing this.

To help with the investigation, could you please:

Please note, adding a @figma.com email won’t count toward your billing. Someone from support team should follow up with you soon. Thank you for your patience in the meantime!
