Question

Figma Slides - Export to PPTX - Text Align property set to Middle in exported files

Mattias

Issue Description

Exported files are having their vertical text alignments changed to Middle.

How to recreate

Create a Figma Slide

Create Text box 1. Set Text Alignment to Bottom.

Create Text box 2. Set Text Alignment to Top.

Export the slide.

Both text fields in the resulting PPTX are now set to Text Align: Middle.

Impact

While you might not expect a pixel-perfect copy when you export from Figma Slides to PPTX, this issue will in many cases cause text boxes to overlap with each other. It also creates a lot of unnecessary manual work while impacting our workflow.

Screenshots

The screenshots below don’t really convey the full impact, sometimes you’ll end up with overlapping texts. But you get the idea.

Hey @Mattias — thanks for flagging this and for outlining the details so clearly. I checked it out and we were able to reproduce the behavior you described.

I’ve passed your post along to the product team, highlighting why this matters — the less manual work, the better. While I don’t have a timeline to share just yet, we’ll keep you posted with any updates or solutions as they become available.

Appreciate you helping us improve — and feel free to reach out if anything else comes up in the meantime!

Is there any indication for when this might be fixed?

The slides are part of an e-learning course. We’re creating the content and putting it online. However, our client still wants PPTX files so that their instructors can easily mix, add and remove slides for when they do in-person training. So the issue becomes that whenever we do an update to the e-learning course, we’d have to manually go through and “fix” the PPTX version every time we make an update to the course.

I’d love to never have to open up Powerpoint again in my entire life - and this one small fix would go a long way towards making that happen.

Hey @Mattias — really appreciate you taking the time to share that context. I can absolutely see how this would be cumbersome, and I agree — ideally, you shouldn’t have to make edits between multiple tools to get one task done. I’ve relayed these additional details of your experience to the team working on this issue. While I still don’t have a specific timeline to share just yet, we’re keeping an eye on this and will follow up here with any updates as they become available.

Thanks again for your patience as we continue to improve — and feel free to reach out if anything else comes up in the meantime!
