*Addition*
It's not possible to drag select anything within a section aswell.
Hey @Hannes Hauwaert - thanks very much for the recording. Very helpful to see how this is surfacing on your end.
Is it possible for you to share edit access to the file you used in your recording? We can have our technical quality team review and see if they can replicate, or find any hidden issues going on.
If you can share, please share that edit access for support-share@figma.com, and let me know the name of file.
@ksn has this been fixed? I am experiencing the exactly same issue.
Hiya @Frysing - I did some searching to see if I could locate any updates (since it’s been a while since the last convo), and I think it would be best to have you write into support for them to review your instance. Can you do the following?
- Share edit access to the file(s) you’re seeing this on with support-share@figma.com. You won’t be charged for this, and it will only be viewed for replication purposes by our official support team.
- Once you’ve done that, please fill out this form, and include the name of the file(s) you’ve shared.
- Reply to me here, and I’ll get that escalated for you.
Thanks!!
I’m having a similar issue, but in my case some elements can be selected, while others can’t be, or at least can’t be until I’ve dragged my cursor across certain parts of the frame. It seems completely random, and difficult to replicate with any consistency. It even changes depending on where a given frame is on the canvas. My instance is occurring in a project I’m consulting for so I can’t publicly share the screen recordings, but I’d be happy to share anything directly with support.
Also having this exact same issue, very irritating and very random. Trying it in other files and not as prevalent. Any way to fix this without having to create a totally different file in which I am collaborating with different members and cannot transfer feedback/comments etc.?

It’s probably not even worth the effort of creating a new file. I tried creating a new file with new frames/artboards that I pasted the elements into. It fixed things at first, but as I continued to work in the file, I noticed the issue returning, and differently on each frame even if the frame’s been duplicated and then only slightly iterated on.
I am facing the same issue, super irritating. Affecting my whole speed by 10x. Please fix this issue asap
same issue here, it’s driving me crazy..
Will keep on commenting till this issue is fixed : 7 jun’25
Same issue. Maybe due to the recent update?
Im having a similar issue. I can’t drag to select anything within a section but it works fine for things outside a section
Hey everyone - first, I want to acknowledge that this does seem like an issue that needs to be addressed for each of you. In instances like this (especially when frame behavior comes into play), my recommendation is to file a support ticket. While the same issue is surfacing for others, the causes could be different depending on the structures of your individual designs. Sharing these files can help us see if each of your designs has something in common (that can help narrow down where to start investigating.
I hope this helps give a bit more transparency into why I request that everyone create a support ticket. Here are my instructions how to take further action:
- Share edit access to the file(s) you’re seeing this on with support-share@figma.com. You won’t be charged for this, and it will only be viewed for replication purposes by our official support team.
- Once you’ve done that, please fill out this form, and include the name of the file(s) you’ve shared.
- Reply to me here, and I’ll get that escalated for you.
Again, I appreciate you all continuing to keep this ticket going. I’m going to mark this reply as a highlight, so any newcomers that see this post will see this more easily.
I will also update you if I receive any updates. Thank you!
Just wanted to chime in and say I’m also experiencing this. I don’t have time to file a support ticket or share a file, but here’s a video. Hoping this gets fixed. For me it changes depending on the frame size.

@ksn The file I’m working in that best demonstrates the issue is for a work project, and I’m sure that’s the case with others as well. How should we share file access for proprietary work? I understand we won’t be charged for sharing with Figma support, but you say the file will be replicated. What happens with the file once the issue is resolved?
I am having the same issue, however it is limited to one file. I duplicated the file and the duplicate works fine. Very weird. Not ideal if (like me) you have already shared links with a client but I can’t continue working having to individually select layers so this will have to do for now.
EDIT
It turns out it was still intermittently buggy so I had to manually copy everything out to a fresh new document and now it seems fine.
EDIT EDIT
So the fresh document has now regressed and has the same bug as well… this is really annoying!
I’ve been experiencing this issue for the past several days. There’s a large section above the broken frame. As a temporary solution, I found that moving the problematic frame away from this large section helps.

But now, even that doesn’t work anymore.
Hi all,
Thanks for your patience. We’ve flagged internally and our engineering team is investigating this issue. We will get back to you when I have anything I can share with you.
Toku
Also having this issue. I was noticing it the other day, but it just keeps getting worse and worse.
Had the issue today, moved the frame to a different location and it magically worked.
At least it fixed it temporarily.
+1 same issue, moving it helps temporarily.
Hi everyone, Celine here from the Community Support team.
Our engineering team has deployed a fix. When you get a chance, could you please try restarting or refreshing Figma to check if it’s working as expected now?
Thank you for your patience while we looked into this. Let us know if you’re still experiencing any issues!
Still experiencing this issue as of today
Hey @Jaclyn, thanks for flagging it! Since the issue has been resolved for others, we’d love to take a closer look at your case to better understand what’s going on. Please reach out to our support team here: Submit a bug report
Please use your Figma email account, include a link to the file, and add support-share@figma.com to your file with can edit permission so the team can take a closer a look at it. Thank you
