My Educational plan expires in 2 weeks, but I won't have money to actually buy one until 4 weeks, or even more.
What I wanna know is what happens after it expires? Do all my files just sit there the way I left them until I can buy a plan, or is everything deleted or changed somehow?
Will I lose any files that are over the file limit for the free plan?
I won't be doing any changes to the file, but I just gotta make sure they stay there until I get the money.

When your Education plan expires, your teams will be downgraded to the Starter plan. On the Starter plan, you can only have a single team with 3 files. For any additional files, you’ll want to move them into to your drafts. You’ll be able to still access and edit them within drafts without them counting towards your 3 file limit, because you can have as many files as you would like in your drafts folder. This way, you won’t lose any of your files.

If your team has more files than the Starter plan allows when you downgrade, those extra files will remain viewable, but you won’t be able to edit them.
As djv mentioned, to keep editing those files, you’ll need to move them either to another team or to your personal Drafts folder.

Unfortunately I did nor realize this was happening and now i can no loner find my file which were prototyped. I don’t see the lock icon many are referring I simply cannot find my file anymore. I only hand 1 or 2 files as i am still learning this as a student.

A few things you can check:
Search your Recents tab: Sometimes files can move if they were in a deleted or shared project. Try searching your ‘Recents’ or typing keywords from the file name in the search bar at the top of your Figma dashboard.
Check also the “Trash” section: From the file browser, on the left, click Trash. You can restore files from there if they were recently deleted. If you find your file, right-click on the file and select Restore.
Look under “Drafts”: If you created your files outside of a team or project, they’ll be in your Drafts folder.
If you still can’t find your file after these steps, please reach out to our Support team using the same email linked to your Figma account, and include any file names or shared links you remember.
