Hello Figma Support Team,

I have been using the new Figma Make AI feature to generate designs, but I am unable to connect these files to Bravo Studio (and other third-party integrations) because:

  • The files created via Make AI are saved as /make/ links, even after moving or duplicating them into my team/project.

  • Bravo Studio (and most Figma plugins or APIs) require a /file/ URL to recognize and import the design.

  • Even after attempting to move, duplicate, or export/import the file within the team/project, the file remains stuck as a /make/ link, not a /file/ link.

This severely limits the usability of Make AI-generated designs in any real-world development or handoff workflow.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Generate a new design using Figma Make AI.

  2. Move or duplicate the file into a Team or Project (on Starter/free plan).

  3. Right-click and “Copy link” – link is always in /make/ format, never /file/.

  4. Try to use the link in Bravo Studio – receives “file not found or no permission” error.

Expected behavior:

  • Moving or duplicating a Make AI file into a Team/Project should convert it to a standard Figma /file/ format so it can be used with external plugins and platforms like Bravo Studio.

Actual behavior:

  • The file remains a /make/ link, unusable by integrations.

Request:

  • Please provide a way to “convert” or “publish” Figma Make AI files into standard Figma /file/ format so they are compatible with Bravo Studio and other developer tools.

  • If this is a current limitation, can you clarify expected workflows for using AI-generated designs with third-party platforms?

Thank you!

Hey @PG53 thank you so much for the feedback.

I had boosted your  message and requests up to the teams that work on Figma Make. There’s ongoing conversation on how to address the items you mention.

While I don’t have more info to share, I can confirm they are actively working on ways to bring Figma Make <> Design improvements to workflows and handoffs (related to your observations and recommendations).

Info on the first phases/capabilities in this space should be provided over the next few months. We’ll boost that info here on the forum as we move forward, but I’d also recommend keeping an eye on our release notes as well: https://www.figma.com/release-notes/

Again, appreciate the time you took to give us your personal insight 🙏
