BUG: Selecting from spelling suggestion removes formatting

When a word is bold and is misspelled, selecting a spelling recommendation removes the text styling. This does the same thing with color, it’s very annoying!

 

You can see the “:” is still bold after the spell change, but “Recommendation” isn’t.

I understand that you’re experiencing an issue where applying a spell check suggestion removes the text styling (such as bold) from your text.

I tested this on my end but wasn’t able to reproduce the issue — after selecting a suggestion, the font styling remained the same.

 

To start troubleshooting, could you please check the following:

  1. Are you using the Spell check option from the menu? You can confirm this by referring to our Help Center article: Use spell check

  2. Does this happen in the browser, the desktop app, or both?

Please also try the following quick fixes to see if the issue persists:

  • Close any unused Figma tabs.

  • Browser: Force-quit and reopen Figma in a new browser window.

  • Desktop App: Force-quit and restart the Figma Desktop app.

Ending the process (in Windows Task Manager) seems to have resolved the error (even though I’ve restarted my machine multiple times since the problem started and that did nothing). I’ll keep and eye on it and see if it starts up again, thanks for the help.
