Question

Team project as free plan

Hubert Chauvat

Hi,

Trying to restructure my company’s use of Figma. Apparently, some colleagues have a Pro plan (at least 3 that I know of). But none of them work in a company/team-wide project and files are scattered all around, which is a pain for the front devs (incl. me), who happen to be on free plans (that’s fine, tbh).

So my question is: who should create a company/team project and invite people with pro/free plans in it? Someone with a pro plan or I can do it?

Thank you for your time

Hey @Hubert Chauvat, thank you for reaching out and apologies for the delayed response! From what you've described, it sounds like you and your colleagues are all working at the same company but currently operate in separate Figma accounts, which is causing some confusion and scattered files. Totally understandable!

In this case, I’d recommend considering a paid workspace for your company. This would allow everyone who uses Figma at your organization to collaborate in a single, organized space. You’ll get access to features like shared team projects, better file organization, and permission management, which can make a big difference when collaborating across roles. You can take the route of expanding upon an existing Professional Plan that exists already, or you could create an entirely new plan and migrate files accordingly.

Anyone at your company can take these steps, but ideally, the person who sets up the team should be someone who can manage billing, access, and overall administration of the plan moving forward.

Let me know if this clears your questions, happy to help out further!

Hi @Gayani_S thanks a lot for your detailed answer. I’m afraid moving to a company plan will be hard to sell to the stakeholders as the seats are quite expensive, on top of being an annual subscription. We’re talking a +243% raise here.

So, I guess, i’ll try to work around this and see if we can work efficiently with what we have for now.
