Hi Figma Community,

I wanted to share some techniques we’ve been using at our agency to keep design systems consistent, especially when working on large projects with multiple designers.

1. Component Naming Conventions
We create a clear naming hierarchy for components (e.g., Button / Primary / Default) to make them searchable and intuitive. This helps avoid duplicate components and speeds up the design handoff process.

2. Variants for Reusable Components
Using variants for buttons, inputs, and cards allows us to manage multiple states (hover, active, disabled) in a single component set. It reduces clutter and improves maintainability.

3. Figma Styles for Colors & Typography
We standardize text and color styles across the project. Any change at the style level updates all instances across files, keeping projects consistent and saving hours of manual updates.

4. Collaborative Feedback Loops
We use Figma comments and Slack integration to get real-time feedback. A short daily sync keeps the team aligned and prevents miscommunication.

5. Plugins That Help
Some plugins we love:

  • Themer – for managing theme variations easily

  • Content Reel – to quickly populate components with realistic data

  • Instance Finder – to locate overridden components quickly

I’d love to hear how others manage large-scale design systems in Figma.

  • How do you prevent duplicate components?

  • Any favorite plugins or workflows that make scaling easier?

Looking forward to learning from your approaches!

Cheers,
Pratiksha
