Our team has encountered a recurring issue with image exports. While the export preview shows the image perfectly centered, the exported PNG or JPG files (the only formats supported in our app) sometimes appear slightly off-center.

Here’s a comparison of how an asset appears in the Figma preview section versus the exported version:

Hey @Alex_Ward, thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delayed reply!

Is this still happening? If so, before you export, can you please confirm if your image is sitting on whole pixel coordinates?

@dvaliao The issue has been observed with images using both fractional and whole pixel coordinates.

Thanks for following up, @Alex_Ward!

When exporting, any sub-pixel positions or sizes are intentionally rounded up to capture the user’s entire design. This can mean that the selection gains an extra pixel which will usually appear as a white or gray border. This may also happen if the export has a multiplier added that causes a sub-pixel dimension.

While we understand that this can be annoying, there are a few options that should hopefully help without having to check all of your layers.

If you pull up the Export Modal using Cmd + Shift + E , you’ll see a warning about this as well as the export dimensions. This should allow you to quickly find any assets that need attention.

You can fix this selecting the element (or the whole page) and using the Round to Pixel function from the menu.

Since you mentioned seeing this happen with image dimensions or positions that are not a sub-pixel value, please give edit access to support-share@figma.com and send us your file here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

We’ll have our team take a closer look and file a bug report, as needed.
