Question

How to lock drop shadows so they rotate with the object

Hey all,
Looking for help or workarounds and how to lock drop shadows so when a object is rotated the shadows have the same orientation relative to object.

My last option is to dupe the object to create the shadows, but I really really don’t want to
do that as I want to make lots of iterations and chances quickly to many different shapes.

Thanks!

my suggestion was going to be what you described not wanting to do 😅 apologies. But! If your shape is a main component, you could use two instances of it to make iterating easier. One instance would have the yellow fill and black stroke, the other would be a black fill with a blue effect. Then, when you need to edit the shape, you can do that on the main component. I’m away from my keyboard at the moment so I can’t offer screenshots or GIF examples, but if you’d find that helpful let me know and I can come back with another reply later.

Thanks for you reply! Looks I’m going to have to find a different solution like buying a month of Illustrator - I have almost a hundred I need to figure out.

If you know what the rotations will be (e.g. 0°, 45°, 90°,…), you can create styles for shadows and easily change them on the instances of the main icon component.
