When editing in Figma Buzz, I can only see this button that says ‘Edit Content’.

But my coworker can see an additional option to ‘Change Layout’. We’re working from the same template file; why don’t I have this option?

Hi @lilash,

I understand that you and your coworker are not seeing the same tools when selecting objects, even though you’re working from the same template.

From your screenshot, I can see the Lock objects icon, so I assume you’re using an internal template. I’ve also tried to reproduce the state where the Change Layout option appears, but so far, I haven’t been able to.

Could you please share a bit more detail about the situation?

  • Are you and your coworker selecting the exact same object within that template?
  • If so, do you both see the same thing in the Edit content panel?

Once we have your answers, I’ll check with our internal team for further clarification.

Thanks,

Hello! Yes we are selecting the same frame, created from the same internal template. And we do see the same thing in the Edit content panel. The only difference is my coworker is the owner of the template,

Thank you!

Thanks for following up, @lilash !

It seems that this button is related to the “Configurable Marketing Templates” feature, which is part of the three new features in Figma Buzz.
If you’re not seeing it while using the exact same template at the moment, could you please try refreshing Figma to see if that makes any difference?

Here are some resources you can refer to:

Thanks!

I’m having the same issue. I have the option to “Change layout” and access the variants of the components in the source template until I publish it, at which time I lose that option. Is that the expected behavior?

In the screenshots below the component on the left has already been published, the one on the right has not been published yet. When I publish the component on the right, the “change layout” option goes away and I can no longer select any variants. And the same applies to the file created from the published template, I can’t change the layout or access any of the major variants that way. The Swap content button still works for variants within the design such as changing a heading color but there is no ability to change the layout to access the main variants.

Hi @mattandmatt, thanks for chiming in here!

If the resources provided by Junko above do not help, please note that the Change layout option only appears for templates that include multiple layout variations. If you don’t see it, your selected template may not support additional layouts.
