Hi @Hayley Johnston ,
Could you please provide a bit more detailed explanation of the steps you followed so that we can attempt to replicate the issue?
Thanks for your patience.

Hi Toku!
Yes, absolutely. I was utilizing Figma Slides, copy and pasting in slide sized frames from a Figma Design file. The frames included both “components” and other design elements. I had no trouble bringing those frames into Figma Slides, but when I finished editing the slides, it wouldn’t let me publish because I had “components” on my slides - see the error above again for reference on how they worded it. The “components” in question were logos and a copyright label.
I tried physically moving them off the slide, I tried using the eye tool in layers to hide them and then also lock them, and what ultimately ended up working was going through every slide and detaching every instance of a component. It meant what it said, no components haha. While ultimately fixable, it seems like components are such a back-bone feature of Figma that it almost felt like a glitch, and I’ve published multiple templates that contained components before, so it’s a first time occurrence for me!
Hope this helps clears it up, happy to help answer any more questions!
Thanks!
Hi @y_toku I had the same problem and found the solution. Only instances may be in the slides, no main components themselves - not even outside the ‘slide area’. Simply place the main components in other FigmaFiles.
