I can't add variants to my component

Hi! Does anyone know why I’m not getting the “variant” section in my right side panel after creating a component?

When I create a component the only thing I see on the right side panel is “properties”. Isn’t that supposed to show up after I’ve added a variant?

Would be so grateful for help
