Why are there "cursors" in my town?

Hi there. A few days back I noticed a new icon in Figma’s toolbar with a caption “There are some new cursors in town”. The pop-up shows a bunch of cursor styles, I’m assuming those are solely for aesthetic reasons. I’m also assuming it’s some kind of an April Fools joke or something, it’s April 5th today and the icon remains in my toolbar.

Can I… get rid of it? Is there an option to disable the feature? Also for some reason it shows up in some of my files, but not others.

Look. I like and miss the “good old days” just as much as any other person who was around in early 2000s, but this seems like some sort of “bloatware” or extra miscelanious stuff that has zero effect on my work.

If this was meant to be a joke or an easter egg, I think it should’ve been communicated/introduced as such. I don’t like seing new things in my already complicated enough design files (that still lag, sadly!) without a reason or an option to disable it.

Anyway, this was my two cents on this feature.

Haha, “bloatware” – that’s exactly what it is, and I was surprised to see it. I actually like the cursors except they simply aren’t precise. They are all sort of rounded and large at the end, which is kind of the opposite of what designers need… hoping they replace them.

It’s an option - disable it if you’d like. It has brought me, my team, and countless others joy. Let’s not be the the reason why we can’t have nice things

It seems to be gone now, but… have you read my initial post? It’s entire point was asking if there was an option to disable the feature. I didn’t mean to imply that it shouldn’t be there at all. But I wasn’t able to find an option to disable it and it annoyed me.

Features like this should always have a clear opt-out option.

I did read your initial post. You asked if there was a way to disable it and then spent the remaining 90% criticizing its rollout, its purpose, and its bugs. To which I ask: is it really that serious?

Are you able to tell me how this thing could be disabled?
