Limited Access

Hi guys!
I open my Figma desktop app and I got this warning message:
“Limited access: To create new files, switch to a plan where you’re a full member”.
And all my favourites are gone and also the recent files.
I have a education plan and always had full access.
But the strangest thing is that, if I use Figma in my browser, everything looks normal.
I’m using a MacOs with everything updated.
Also I installed the latest version of the desktop app.
Does anyone else has this issue?
Thank you
Cheers!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out!

Could you double-check if you’re logged into the correct account? Also, if you could share the file links you want to access from your browser history, that would be helpful. Could you try searching for some of them? We can check if these files have been deleted or not.

The files should still be in your account unless you’ve permanently deleted them.

Thanks!
Toku

Hi Toku!!
Thank you for your help.
Yes, I’m logged in with my school e-mail/account.
The files are all there. I can see them if i use Figma in my browser.
But if I use the Figma desktop app, I get a “Limited access: To create new files, switch to a plan where you’re a full member”. message and I can’t see the file, can’t create new files, can’t share anything. But… I can do all of this things if I use the browser version.
It’s very strange. :frowning:
This happen when I did the last update, I think… I already download the last version again and install again. But no luck!

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to me. From the screenshot of the desktop app, it seems the team setup is different from the browser version. It looks like the browser version you shared is verified as a student, but the desktop one isn’t.

The education status is specific to each team, not the entire account. So, the “João Silva” team also needs to be verified. You can find more information here: Figma Help Article.

In the desktop app, if you switch from the “João Silva” team to the “Agostinho…” team, you should be able to use it without the alert popup. If you want to verify the education status for “João Silva,” please submit a request here: Figma Help Article.

I hope it clarifies the things but please let me know if you have more questions!

Thanks,
Toku

Problem solved!!
Thank you sir!
