I am the creator of the file and part of a team. However, Looks like I lost my edit access. Ask to edit → view only, is displayed next to the title. Any idea what’s happening?

That’s odd. Is this happening both in-browser and using the desktop app? Have you tried logging out & back in again yet?
No luck!! I did try logging out and back in again. both in-browser and on the desktop app. strange though in my account settings it shows I do have edit access 
Solved. This dialogue helped me. The owner of the group mistakenly revoked the access.
