Drafts just disappeared

Hi! Similar to the experience of some fellow Figma users as written here: My drafts just disappeared
today my drafts just disappeared, without having the “Drafts to move” section… I would reply within that topic but it’s locked. What should I do, how can I recover the drafts?

Hey @andrej.andrej, thank you for reaching out!

I can get you connected with our support team. Before that, please answer me the following questions:

  1. You’ve stated that you can’t see the “Drafts to move” section, but can you please double check if you can see it under your Recents?
  2. Can you let me know what type of plan you have?

Thanks,
Gayani

Hi Gayani! Thanks for your reply. Basically, the design and FigJam files are not visible even from Recents, just some of them, but not the ones I was actively working on. Just the drafts I nested within a Team are there, the ones that weren’t assigned to any Team, disappeared. I have a Starter plan. :') I’m very desperate to recover the files, they contain many important designs that I can’t just recreate at this point.

Lost file access and now I am a Viewer

I was working on some draft files till yesterday but today I don’t see them on my Figma account, luckily I have view access links to 3 of them (out of 4), so I can access those but I am now a viewer only, can’t see who’s the owner.
When I am trying to request edit access hoping that I might receive the request on the same email, I am getting nothing, Also, lost access to one file (out of 4) for which I had no view access link. I need that lost file and my edit access to all 4.

Please help, this is urgent!!

Hey @andrej.andrej, apologies for the delayed response! I’ve just seen that you’ve already reached out to our support team and you were able to locate your files. Glad to see it got resolved!

Hey @Kushal_Gautam, thank you for reaching out and apologies for the delayed response!

I am assuming the user who shared their draft with you has now moved it to a team.

After they move the file, users they’ve shared the file with might not be able to edit the file any more. For example:

  • If some moves the file into Drafts in a Starter team, they’ll need to move the file to a project to give other people can edit access.
  • If they move the file into Drafts in a Professional team, anyone invited to the file with can edit access will now have can view access. They can restore your edit access at any time. Note that anyone they give can edit access to will be automatically upgraded to a paid seat on their team if you don’t already have one.

I’d recommend reaching out to the file owners and requesting edit access.

Can you please clarify what you mean by “Also, lost access to one file (out of 4) for which I had no view access link.”

Thank you,
Gayani

I am on the Education plan and just moved a number of drafts to teams and now when I visit the team folders, none of the drafts are there– almost all of my drafts are missing, even when I visit the “Recents” tab. Also, the “Drafts to move” indicator still shows there are 99+ drafts needing to be moved, but when I click on that option, I can only see seven remaining drafts (the ones I did not move to teams). I have tried restarting, logging out, and refreshing, but nothing has changed the situation.

Hey @Melissa13, than you for reaching out!

Just to clarify, with the recent change we made, the contents of the side bar view will now depend on the team you’ve selected in the drop down. Could you double-check the team picker in the side bar and see if you can locate all your teams there?

Here’s how to find the team switcher:

You can find more information in our Help Center article: Updates to how drafts work

If you continue having trouble here, please make us a quick screen recording demonstrating the issue at hand, so I can take a closer look and suggest the next steps.

I hope this helps. I’m happy to answer any further questions you may have!

Hello! I have exactly the same problem as andrej.andrej, please, help me too.
No “Drafts to move” - and very important for me drafts just disappeared… I even tried to search them by their names but didn’t succeed.
I also tried to reach the support team, but my request is already marked as “solved” though I have not got any answer.
Please, help! :sob:

Hey @Alisa_Solonskaja, thank you for reaching out!

Do you have a URL of the missing files? You can search for the link in your browser’s history, or ask collaborators who may have it. If you don’t feel comfortable to share it on the Forum feel free to send me DM.

Can you also please check in the “Deleted” section of your “Drafts to Move” folder:

Hey, Gayani! Thank you you for the answer!
I can not find “Drafts to move”, it looks like it just disappeared also

Here is the links, that would lead to my disappeared projects:

(file links redacted)

Hey @Alisa_Solonskaja, thanks for sharing the links. I’ve removed them from your message.

After looking into it, I found that the team “Диплом” was deleted. It seems you previously had “Can edit” permissions for that team. Please reach out to the team owner, Elena, to request the restoration of the team.

On the Professional plan, only the team owner can restore a deleted team.

Keep in mind that the team owner or admin has 28 days from the date of deletion to restore it. After that period, the team’s files and projects will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

If needed, you can share the Help Center article with the team owner for instructions on how to restore the team.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help with!

Hi i have big problems with my Figma drafts.
Today, after turning on the application, 90% of my drafts disappeared. They cannot be found and are not in the basket. The remaining files open only in developer mode. I have already updated the application, cleared the cache and nothing helped. Tell me, is it possible to get it back somehow? HELP please.

Hey @Karolina_Burzak, thank you for reaching out!

I understand how worrying it can be to lose track of your files.

To cover some grounds, please check if:

  • The file is in your deleted folder (Open your drafts > click the deleted page). If so, right-click the file to restore it
  • The file may have been moved by a teammate who was also on that file
  • You’re logged into a Figma account that should have access to this file. You can switch accounts via the top-right and top-left corners of the file browser.

Just to clarify, with the recent change we made, the contents of the side bar view will now depend on the team you’ve selected in the drop down.

Could you double-check the team picker in the side bar and see if you can locate all your teams there?

Can you also please check in the “Deleted” section of your “Drafts to Move” folder:

Do you happen to have any file links of those missing drafts?
You may be able to find the URL from:

  • Your web browser’s history.
  • Any past conversations where you might have shared the file with colleagues.
  • The ‘File > Recently Closed’ menu if you are using the desktop app.

To better assist you with this issue providing the URL(s) of the missing drafts would be incredibly helpful for further investigation.

I appreciate your help, and I’ll do my best to get this resolved quickly!
