FigJam post it tab for new note

I’ve started a new job as a researcher and am so used to using miro for interview note-taking. They’re using FigJam for this and I’ve found it really clunky when trying to take notes quickly.
I want to be able to be writing a note and then press TAB to create a new post it note, same colour the sits next to it.
It’s too much effort to drag a new one into the right place and then start typing. I’ve missed what they’ve said in that time.
Thanks!

Hey @Vanessa9, I totally get how challenging it can be to adjust to a new tool when you’re used to another one. Thanks for sharing your feedback, I’ll make sure to pass it along to the team

To quickly create a sticky, press S to select the sticky tool, hover it over the board to choose a spot, and click to place it.

For even faster creation, select an existing sticky and use the shortcut:

  • On Mac, press ⌘ Command + Return
  • On Windows, press Control + Enter

This will create a new sticky next to the original one with the text field ready to type.

Thanks so much for this helpful tip!
I think my problem comes from wanting a really easy shortcut to create a new sticky note whilst one is selected and I’ve finished typing in that one. Having to use the mouse to copy/paste or create a new one from the bar makes it difficult and it’s in those two seconds that I can miss an insight.

The command + return shortcut will be really helpful for the next user interview. I’d love it if it was just one button on the keyboard to do that action. Thanks for passing this along to the team.

Hey @Vanessa9, thanks for sharing your thoughts! I totally get how important smooth interactions are, especially during a fast-paced user interview. A single-key shortcut would definitely make it easier to capture insights without any interruptions.

There’s actually been some interest from the community around customizable shortcuts, which could be a great solution for situations like this. Feel free to share your feedback and upvote this request here: Customizable Shortcuts.
