When you lock a layer, the editor should show a lock icon next to the frame so that it is easy to spot if a frame is locked.
Additionally, the icon can be a toggle (like “Ready for Dev”) so that people can unlock and lock without digging through the well-named layers that we designers clearly do 🙂
Some way to better visualise the locked state of an object would be highly welcome. I’ve lost count of the number of times i’ve received a file from someone and when i’ve tried to edit something I thought there was a connection issue or bug, only to work out the layer was locked.
