This used to work, and most all other MacOSX applications allow the ability to drag the area around the close, minimize, and maximize buttons at the top left of the application window.

In the recent updates in the past few months this is no longer a drag area resulting in having to resize the window down when you don’t have a draggable window area with multiple files open and the right empty area is off screen.
