Set Default Properties is Grayed Out

I was trying to find out how to set default color on text, and came across information online about “Set Default Properties.” However, that option is grayed out and not selectable. How do I make that option available? Any other info on how to use that would be appreciated. I can’t seem to find much about it. Thanks

You need to select an object with the properties that you want to set as default.

Thank you! That was embarrassingly simple 😂

I tried to use this method for setting a default text color and it doesn’t seem to work. That is, I select the text, then go to the Edit menu and click on Set default properties. When I add a new text element, it’s black instead of the color I wanted.

Hi! If you want to set a default text color, try selecting a layer that includes the style with your desired color, then choose “Set default property.” This should change the default text color. I think this is a workaround for this.

Thanks! One of my colleagues figured out that the missing piece was that you have to create a local style with the desired color. This makes the default color for all objects – not just text – whatever color you chose.
