I had a Figma Organization account when we had enough number of teams. But now we have shrink down our team number and currently we only require Professional plan. So, is it possible to downgrade from Organization plan to a Professional Plan?

Does anyone knows how to downgrade the Organization plan? Has anyone got any leads regarding this, gone through the Support team, and was successful at downgrading an existing plan?

Hey there! Yes, you can downgrade your organization plan to professional plan by reaching out to the support team. Please feel free to contact us directly here for help: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Figma team and @Celine_Figma, you need to make this easier — I just spent the past hour trying to find how to downgrade my plan which was bumped up automatically after I shared EDIT access to someone. I only found out after I received the bill from Figma. Now you make it seemingly impossible to reverse that automatic upgrade.

I’m surprised that this hasn’t been picked up yet under the respective country Fair Trade Laws. I know for sure in Australia you would be in breach of this law as it stands right now. You must not set up unnecessary barriers which are designed to prevent customers from being able to administer their paid subscriptions. This includes not being able to prove that you have made all efforts to mitigate this issue and prevent it from occurring prior to offering that paid subscription.

I finally decided to reaching out the support team, after giving up on finding this through both the web version and local OSX app. Let’s see how quickly this ‘Figma support team’ respond beyond just a generic response here.

Disappointing to have to experience this from a company that I respect so much, and have been a user since the first beta release in Dec 2015 🥺

Hi there,

Please let me respond instead of Céline, as I am closely working with her.

We completely understand your frustration regarding the issues you are facing with billing.

Although my capabilities to resolve specific billing and account management cases in our forum are limited, I’m more than happy to pass your feedback along to the team for consideration in future improvements.

I can see that you’ve received a reply from our support team which clarifies how to cancel your plan (https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039829734-Cancel-your-Professional-plan-subscription?source=search). I’d also like to take this opportunity to clarify a couple other aspects.

From what I understand from your post, you added other users as Editors. In this case, the seats are added to the current invoice. Let me explain how to downgrade users to a free seat in Professional and Organization plans.

  • From the file browser, click Admin.

  • Select the Members tab.

  • From the dropdown menu next to someone’s Figma Design or FigJam seat, change the seat type to Viewer-restricted.

To prevent unexpected Editors in the future, you also have the option to set View-restricted as the default seat type in your plan. See how to do this here:

Figma Learn - Help Center

Please feel free to continue the conversation with the support team, if you need further assistance with downgrading your plan. They can look into your case using your account information.

Last but not least, thank you for being a long-time Figma user. We welcome your feedback and will make sure to pass it along to our internal team.

Thanks,

Toku

+1 The FTC in the US just ruled that businesses have to make it as easy to downgrade or cancel as they do to sign up or upgrade. If it’s not clear and easy to downgrade or cancel in an app specifically designed for usability, it’s deliberate.
