For some reason when I want to draw a shape on top of the frame, the original frame disappears and I’m left with the new shape only. What could be the issue?

We’re not able to replicate this behavior. It’s also hard to understand exactly what is happening from what you’ve described and the screenshot you’ve attached.

Are you able to share a screen recording and include your Layers panel? When drawing a new shape, does the Frame also completely disappear from your layers panel? Can you see the layer with the shape you’ve recently drawn?
