I use sections a lot for tidying and sectioning up my workspace. I’ve noticed that since the very first time sections were introduced in Figma, it seems to me that labels for frames and components are faded while placed inside a section. I don’t understand why Figma does this. Is this a minor bug that has been overlooked or is this done by design?

Is it happening in desktop app, browser or both? Can you try to refresh Figma to see if you see any change?
