Your product sucks

Anything in particular you dislike? It’s a tool that takes a minute to get used to, but feels really intuitive once you get up and running – at least in my opinion.

I want something that runs like a power point or a slide but that I can write on during instruction. I want to be able to save those notes I make during instruction and share them with the students both in real time on their devices and in print form after the class has concluded.

The “Prototype” feature will allow you to create a power point style slide. It can also include animations, gifs, and I believe video too.

but that I can write on during instruction.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe there is any native functionality in Figma that allows you to write on the slides in presentation mode, however there is a pencil tool that offers this functionality in the editor. Maybe this is something worth suggesting to the community? There may be some third party options that would allow you to do this. I don’t know of any off the top of my head though.

Although it wouldn’t be the written comments on the slides, there is a commenting feature in presentation mode that can be used and seen by other people who have access to the file. This could be a great way for students to ask questions about the slides, which would send you a notification anytime a new comment has been added. This would also notify students any time a new comment has been added by you. I’m not sure the best method for turning these into a printed handout though.

Thanks, one of the reasons I complained is so the developers would understand how to make the product better. Can you tell me more about the prototype mode?

That’s not what Figma is for. Figma is a UI design tool, not a classroom helper tool. While it can be used in the classroom to some degree, this use-case is very far from the main purpose of this tool used by professional designers and engineers.

Then they should suggest it as a replacement for jam board.

Writing your “product sucks” because you want a tool to help you with your class is like going to a car dealership and saying “Your cars suck!! I want them to go underwater like a submarine”. It doesn’t make any sense.

But the most important thing to highlight is your horrible demeanor. Especially since you are a teacher. You going to a random page on the internet and writing “your product sucks” indicates to me that you have very low patience and seem to have zero skills on giving constructive feedback. And those are very important skills for a teacher. This is a bit sad.

Ah, in this case I guess you are talking about FigJam. It is possible to do everything you described there. It doesn’t work like slides though, you can only use it like a freeform canvas board (jam board).

It gets their attention and apparently yours. Have a nice day!

Great! How? My frustration with the product and its support is that I can’t find assistance doing that. They only want to help show me how to use the product in a way that doesn’t do what I need it to do.

So far nobody from Figma said anything here 😃

You need to learn. To learn you need to break down the general “how” into specific questions and find answers to them. To find answers you need to google.

Getting attention in a toxic way. Nice

It sounds you were looking at the wrong tool

Your product sucks? Are you serious @christopher.burke? It’s simple, then don’t use it 😂 😂 😂

Responsiveness really sucks on Figma, especially autolayouts… by default a canvas should be responsive and everything inside of it should adapt by default. I saw that the new changes in AutoLayout are going to be smarter but I am not sure if it is going to work like xd used to with their canvas. Most designs need some sort of responsiveness/adaptability… it will be great to be able to turn any design to responsive instead of going layer by layer switching every layer to “fill” —really annoying!!!
