So not sure if my work is messing with the functionality or not but the bottom middle floater bar is missing on my work laptop but my personal is still on 124.4.7 and the bottom floater is there.

Any idea why?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. It seems we haven’t encountered any similar issues with the floating toolbar missing, so you might be seeing the previous UI, known as UI2, where the toolbar isn’t floating. Here are a few things you can try:

  • Could you click on the “?” at the bottom of the app and see if there’s an option to select “Use new UI”? This will change to the new UI.

  • Do you have separate accounts for work and personal use? It’s possible that your work account isn’t eligible for UI3 with the floating toolbar yet, but your personal account has access. UI3 will be rolled out to all users on October 10th (US time), so you might just need to wait until then.

I hope this helps, but if I’ve misunderstood your issue, could you share some screenshots of what you’re seeing? I’d like to investigate further.

Thanks,

Toku

Hi - Is there a way to dock the new floating tools? I’m finding them getting in the way quite often.

Maybe having a preference to dock them into the left panel at the top.

Hi there,

Unfortunately nothing at the moment. Thanks for the feedback and we will share it internally.

@y_toku I see. I wonder what the rationale is for this change. As a designer I don’t want anything overlaid on top of my canvas. If it were docked in a bottom toolbar that’d be better, but there’s room at the top for them already…

Thanks for the feedback. According to the product team, here is the thought

We explored some radical departures, like a super-minimal UI that only revealed itself on hover. No panels, no properties, just you and your work. In other variations, sidebars would appear and disappear. These iterations made the work environment too unstable, but inched us closer to our ultimate solution: resizable panels and a slim new toolbar at the bottom of the canvas. That frees up the top, creating a roomier feel overall. It also forms a standard structure across Figma for easy toggling between products. You can hide the UI completely, with panels only appearing when needed.

But we will keep sharing the feedback from the community with our internal teams. We appreciate it!
