Posting to keep this tread alive as Figma seem to have made no attempt to resolve. If you’re part of the team with access to the file you should see a thumnail not the overriding key symbol. It makes it hard to navigate look ugly!
The grey “default” thumbnail with password protection really makes it hard to scan all the files, which we have in our team/company, the thumbnails are important for “crossviewing” and fast orientation. Please take away the UX pain from your customers!
+1 on this issue - Custom covers are great and allows us to add status for files and other elements, but it currently doesn’t work if the lock icon replaces the cover when using the share with password feature.
Please get thumbnails for password-protected files:face_holding_back_tears:🥹
18+ months an still no resolution. Perhaps you can spend some of that $1bn Adobe had to give you on sorting this issue
Please sort this! would make such a big difference when browsing projects
+1 on this issue , This feature makes it easy to distinguish the project when working on many password-protected files.
Very much needed to fix this. Saw already some good ideas for a fix in this topic, but sad to see it’s over 2 years and still they didn’t paid attention to this issue 😦
Hey everyone, we hear you! Appreciate for thank your time to leave your feedback! This helps us roadmap future updates. I’ve flagged this post internally with the teams.
Thank you,
Gayani.
Yes, thank you, and please do it! After two years from starting this thread and nearly 60 answers from users we finally have got a response from support 😃 💪 🤓
Please give us the thumbnail
Hey, really it is small development effort needed to return back cover image, come on…
+1 for just having the lock icon over the cover. We use an internal system for covers and the current set up is not clear anymore.
I can understand that even the file cover should be treated confidentially for users who see the file in the overview but do not have access to it (if this case exists at all). Nevertheless, in my opinion, if I have access to a file (at least read access), then I should also be able to see the thumbnail.
It looks like the issue has been fixed.
No mention of it in the Release Notes though 🤷
When a file is password-protected is not that visible now.
This could be fixed by adding a status icon at the top-left, beside the “design/library” one, or even an on/off button beside the “starred” one.
Hey All, thank you for your continued votes and feedback!
@Giancarlo_Gamberini is correct. This feature has been launched! 🚀
Password protected file previews are now only hidden for non-team members. 🔓
speechless - over two years to fix and the solutions still looks like no UX designers are working at Figma.
do we have to be thankful for that. i guess we do…😉
