Figma is running very slow suddenly, I can’t even move an object easily, is it because of Figma servers?

Hello Zeinab, Ben here,

Figma may be slow if your design is graphics intensive. Check the sizes and formats of your images. Thank you.

Check all your components. Did you just make a bunch and then delete them? I had this happen to me when I made a bunch then deleted them then made more (like 1000+) each with instances and variants within component sets. So imagine components nested like 5-10 components deep. This is 100% a figma issue and not a computer issue. I’m running the top of the line 2021 Macbook pro. I use some intensive programs and the fan kicks on so I know when it’s working really hard and Figma isn’t causing it to work hard.

Please help me in fixing the Figma issue.

I fixed this by updating my graphic driver 🥳

I’m using brave very fast and smooth, but using chrome very slow

Having the same problem. Was working great this morning up until two hours ago. Now the delay is awful. Copy and paste doesn’t work (shortcuts) and will not copy over to any other application (usually move images to PowerPoint, Word, etc. to check). Already tried different Internet browsers (Edge and Chrome) to no avail. Even restarted my computer.

yes, getting same issue with figma, anyone can you please help.

It happens to me when I change pages.

  • When I open a file everything is smooth.

  • If I switch to another page within that file, everything becomes noticeably laggy

Im running into the same issue…

I am 200% sure it can be on my side, since im running:

  • RTX 3090 with 24gb of memory (updated with latest drivers)

  • Ryzen 9 5900x - 12 core processor

  • 32gb of DDR4 RAM

Internet = 600mbps download & 80mbps upload.

The following happens to my GPU when i zoom in / out in my figma tab :

There is no way my 3090 GPU cant handle figma - there must be some optimization error in the backend of the browser editor.

Forgot to add - after a page refresh - it’s fixed, but its still an annoying bug.

Does it happen after selecting a different page from the left sidebar?

I have the same issue, Figma is running super slowly recently, and what I need to do is when I switch a page refresh it so it can run kind of normally. This is becoming a waste of time, I’m losing a lot of time designing

Even I am facing the same issue, Figma runs super slow after about 5 mins, but I noticed that this does not happen in 1-page files. There’s no way my laptop can’t handle Figma when it handles Blender Cycles and After Effects. I am working with a pretty fast and stable internet connection. The issue seems to be with Figma.

Same situation here. Seems like a problem on Figmas’ part.

Figma is unusable. Change tools. Takes them months to fix this.

Im getting the same issue. I have to reload on a regular basis. Started a few weeks ago unfortuntely.

Was anyone able to find a solution or at least confirmation from the Figma team whether they plan to fix it?

I’m facing the same Figma issue. It’s very slow for me when I switch to a different page or when a page has comments on it. Refreshing the page fixes the issue but I’m not able to work properly because of this.

Same issue for almost 2 weeks with a MacBook Pro and the fans blast!

Figma is not answering, is it?

Same problem. 😦 how will I fix it?

Got the same drop in performance today when i created a pattern made of 100+ small vector rectangles. But everything just went to halt. Pretty simple pattern. It’s a delay in the whole viewport when i try to move anything. I am using the desktop app on PC (Ryzen 7950, Nvidia 4090, 32gb ram) and Mac (M1, 16gb ram). Both have the same issue. Have not tried brower yet.

Hey All,

This thread seems to be from a service disruption last Summer in 2022. If there’s no active service disruption showing here: https://status.figma.com/

As a first troubleshooting step, can you please try:

  • logging out of your account in both the web browser and the desktop app

  • clearing your browser/desktop app’s cache.

Here’s how to clear the desktop app cache on a Mac:

  1. Quit the Figma desktop app

  2. Open Terminal.app and enter the following command: rm -rf “$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma/”{Desktop,DesktopProfile}

  3. Try opening the desktop app again

Here’s how to clear the desktop app cache on Windows:

  1. Close the Figma desktop app

  2. Open the Start menu, and paste in this, followed by enter: %APPDATA%\Figma

  3. In the window that opens, delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders if they exist

  4. Launch the desktop app again

  • un-installing and re-installing the desktop app.

If you continue to have issues after completing all steps, please reach out to support directly with the following:

  • What device and OS you’re using?

  • Is this happening with just one file or all files?

  • Screen recording

Clearing the desktop cache fixes the problem (on Windows) instantly. However, the problem of unresponsiveness comes back after a few days (almost hours). Is there a more long term solution?

Before I could check if it made Figma perform better, I found out some plugins are reset or deleted (so were my 1000 variables texts from a very large file, took me multiple days)…

Turning Off the “Background Application Max Frame Rate” option in Nvidia Control Panel fixed it for me.

I had the hardware acceleration in the browser turned off due to a discord stream. I turned it on again and Figma worked lag free. A solution for some?
