I work in quite large files with many collaborators. The fact that the comment icon gets a red notification bubble for every comment in a file is ridiculous to me. The relevant comment threads get flooded in all the unrelated ones, and I’m forced to check all comments to see if there’s something I should pay attention to or not. It’s tedious and distracting.

My proposal is to mark the comment icon with a neutrally-colored bubble when there are new comments that you’re not participating in, and red when there are new comments in a thread you are participating in.
