My design uses modal slideouts, and I tried to simplify my prototype by using Section states; I discovered that Section statefulness doesn’t support ‘Open overlay,’ only ‘Navigate to.’

It seems like a valuable feature that a Section of modal overlay screens should be able to save state as well. Much cleaner than having to add a fullscreen background behind each one.
