LAUNCHED: Password protected file thumbnails

Hey!

I just found out that the new feature of password protecting is kinda destroying workflow with file covers we have in our team. I understand that protected file preview should be hidden, but ONLY for not-team users. Me and my team have full access to the files, and yet we have thumbnail replaced by placeholder with key icon. Can we somehow override this while maintaining password protection?

having the same issue over here. we used thumbnails for easyier navigation throught file list and now gray rectangle just with key icon is just not working… any update?

Our team leverages the thumbnails, but there’s a lot of friction adopting passwords because they make our cover page/thumbnail system useless on the file browse.

This is great if it’s in someone’s recents and they don’t typically have access to the file, but it doesn’t make sense for folks who have already have access to view or view and edit all files in the Team.

As a Figma Editor, I would love to see the thumbnail shown in Teams I’m a member when I’ve shared a design file with other stakeholders through a password-protected link.

Yep, just discovered this – is it an oversight? Will it be fixed?

Echoing this need. The password reduces headaches of managing an ever-changing/growing list of users while keeping our file only shared with customers we share the link to. But the thumbnail issue creates a barrier for our designers.

agreed! hoping for a solution soon…

It would be nice to still show the thumbnail & have another way to show its password protected. Maybe a key next to the name or corner of the thumbnail.

Agreed, This is a much needed update!

+1, passwords are great but thumbnails make it much easier to navigate around

It takes so much effort scan the files in the galery without the thumbnail :face_exhaling: :face_exhaling: :face_exhaling:

I second this strongly. We had our files open to view for anyone until I noticed strange names having view access, so I restricted access to a password which now disturbs workflow and visuals enormously.

Maybe extend an option after setting a password to show thumbnail for:

  1. no one
  2. people who have access
  3. anyone

Has anyone found a solution to this

No, not yet :frowning:

Yes please fix this. It’s hard to navigate & find the file that I want. We are all visual creatures & rely on the cover page instead of reading the file name.

Just found out about this. We were required to password lock “public” files (only shared with stakeholders), but blocking the thumbnail is very annoying as we use them extensively to categorize our files

+1! Still hoping this will be fixed as our team needs to protect the files, but having the thumbnails hidden makes it not that comfortable.

Feels like an oversight, definitely an eyesore.

Still waiting…
Now you can ask Adobe for 1000$ to do this feature, no ?
