Couple Comments with File History

It would be nice if I could quickly see the version of the file a comment was made on. That way, if things have been changed in the meantime, the comment will not be out of context / potentially confusing.

I even wonder why comments are not linked to a specific history state but only to the page of a file.
Comments made on a version of the file shouldn’t appear in older versions. This seems more like a bug than a intended behaviour.

This is a big one for us. We’ve just moved from Sketch/Abstract which directly ties comment threads to each design commit.

We’re a large organisation with many teams that are integral to the design journey. When we seek stakeholder approval for a design and then mark the latest feedback as resolved in Figma, the context is then completely lost as soon as the design is updated.

We’ve now got stakeholders needing to compare the previous design to the new one to ensure their comments have been heard, understood and implemented. Instead, what they get is an updated prototype link with no history state (only the latest design).

When filtering by resolved comments, we now just have the random comment threads floating in areas of the design that no longer exist (because the design has since been updated).

Understand that Abstract works on commits, so perhaps Figma taking a snapshot each time a comment is made would be their version of this?

Thanks team!
