I’ve just seen that I can’t get back to the instance I was just working on by clicking on the “Return to Instance” button.
Hello @JuliesZ7, I appreciate you reaching out with this issue.
I’ve just checked on my end, and it seems to be functioning properly.
Would you mind trying a few quick fixes to see if they resolve the problem?
- Close any Figma tabs you aren’t actively using.
- If you’re using a browser: Force-quit your browser and then reopen Figma in a fresh browser window.
- If you’re using the Desktop App: Force-quit the Figma Desktop app and then restart it.
- Clearing your browser cache and the desktop app cache
Also, could you please try “Relink instances to local component” from “Actions” to see if there’s any differences?
I hope one of these suggestions works for you.
If things still aren’t working, please provide us with the details, and we will coordinate with our support team as needed.
Thank you once again for getting in touch.
I have the same issue, tried the above but it’s still not showing up
I also lost the button. I work in the browser, reset the cache, logged out and logged into my account, tried it in different browsers — the result is the same: there is no button
Does the function have hotkeys?
Hi.
Unfortunately, this function has no hotkey, no quick command, no right-click. At least I didn’t find any.
Correction: the method with clearing the browser cache helped. You just need to open a new tab and log in again. If you try to log in using a previously opened tab, the button will still not be visible. I hope everything works out for everyone, good luck!
Same problem:
- Desktop App: Force-quit the Figma Desktop app - not working
- Relink instances to local component - not working
PS A hotkey would be great
I also deleted cache, logged out and logged in again and the option still does not appear
Same here!!! Help please
Tested all solutions above. Same issue. Browser and in App.
I have the same issue since yesterday. Would be great to have that option back. Or any alternative way would be helpful too.
As stated, the return to instance shortcut has disappeared in native Figma app on macOS since yesterday. Tested with multiple projects and components, cleared cache and restarted the Figma app, also rebooted my Mac but still no luck.
The shortcut seems to be working fine on Safari, macOS, but somehow disappeared in the native Figma app.
yeah I just find out this func disappear at this moment too.
i was wandering what setting did i change by mistake yesterday earlier…ewww
it seems like someone else has this situation
When I’m editing a component, until recently there was an option to return to the instance of that component that we were working on. For the past few days that button has been missing.

Hi there, please go ahead and refresh – the issue should now be resolved.
Thank you!
Hello. not sure what happened, but the Return to instance button disappeared.
just to clarify my process is:
- created a component.
- duplicated it
- once insitu I realized I want to make changes to the main comp.
- click go to the main component
- then realize the Return to instance button is not showing up.
would love a shortcut for sure. I could not find any info about the topic either.
