Recently I am facing below problem with the professional plan.
- Users without team permission (view, edit, etc.) are not shown in the Members list
In case they don’t show up in the members tab but need edit permissions for Figma or FigJam, it is necessary to grant first Team Permissions.
A few months ago this problem wasn’t there yet. Also, I noticed that only one part of the users are not shown (couldn’t identify the reason yet). These users can have edit permissions for Figma or FigJam while not having team permissions.
I would like to know the following:
- if this is this a bug as it hasn’t occurred before
- how to give a person edit permission for Figma/FigJam without giving team permissions
Thanks in advance.
Hey @Julian_Fuchs, thank you for reaching out!
You can either invite someone to edit some files, or you an invite them to the team so they can access all team resources, these users should be shown in the members list. You can find more information on this in our Help Center article: Manage member permissions
Can you not see them in the desktop app as well as the browser?
Can you try clearing the cache in the browser? If it is only an issue when using the destkop app, can you please clear the cache.
You can clear the desktop app cache on a Mac in the Help menu under Troubleshooting. If you’d prefer to manually clear your cache you can:
- Quit the Figma desktop app
- Open Terminal.app and enter the following command:
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma"
- Try opening the desktop app again
You can clear the desktop app cache on Windows under the toggle-arrow at the right of the top toolbar under Help > Troubleshooting. If you’d prefer to manually clear your cache you can:
- Close the Figma desktop app
- Open the Start menu, and paste in this, followed by enter:
%APPDATA%\Figma
- In the window that opens, delete the
Desktop
and DesktopProfile
folders if they exist
- Launch the desktop app again
Please let me know if this resolved the issue, happy to help out further!
Hello Gayani.
Thank you for the explanation.
It looks like there was indeed a problem with the caching.
I would like to ask another question.
- gave edit permission to a file
- upgraded to design seat
- set team permission to “View”
Problem
- no option to remove team permission
How do I remove team permission but still keep all individual file permissions?
Hey @Julian_Fuchs, glad to hear that clearing the cache has resolved your issue!
To “remove team permission but still keep all individual file permissions” you have to change them to a viewer and give “can edit” access to the specific file. The “can view” team permissions won’t let them edit by default, but individual file invitations should override that. However, these users will still need a full seat.
I’d recommend to check out our Help Center article to get a better understanding: Guide to sharing and permissions
Thanks,
Gayani
