Lost Files

I have lost files from my Figma account. I looked at the drafts > deleted tab and its not there. I also filter searched all projects made by (me) and no luck finding it. I have a link the prototype because I had it linked to my old portfolio

and it says that Prototype not found. Either this file doesn’t exist or you don’t have permission to view it. Ask the file owner to verify the link and/or update permissions.

This project was definetly used through this email so im confused. I dont know if any other files got lost, but this is a case study for my portflio and a really important project to me so I hope you can help me recover it.

Try contacting Figma support. If it’s not in the deleted tab, it’s probably deleted permanently I’m sorry but there’s no way to recover that.

To give you some context here, and for others who may encounter this similar issue, when you receive this notification, this indicates that something has changed about your permission to view this file – you may not be logged into the right account to view it, it has been deleted, or it has been moved somewhere that you can’t access.

As first workarounds, please check if:

  • The file is in your deleted folder (Open your drafts > click the deleted page). If so, right-click the file to restore it
  • The file may have been moved by a teammate who was also on that file
  • You’re logged into a Figma account that should have access to this file. You can switch accounts via the top-right and top-left corners of the file browser.

If you still haven’t found it, you can reach out to the support team with a link to the file. Our support team can check its state and location.

I did all those workarounds which i noted in my original message. Those files were owned and created by me and only me. I have reached out to the support team and havent gotten any help. Please lt me know if im taking any wrong steps of getting on contact with support.

The support team replied to you. It looks like the file was in a deleted Starter team. The support team restored the team, and that permitted access to the file.
