How hard is it to adapt an existing open Design System?

Hi all,

I’ve worked closely with stakeholders to implement a Design System in my organization. They agreed that the best (least expensive and quicker) approach for DS is to adopt one (Atlassian, Salesforce, etc.) with our own branding elements (typography, colors, etc.).

I have the following concerns:

  • How easy is swap typography and color without breaking the components?
  • Will the existing code snippets be usable (or provide any value) once I swap all the text, icons, and colors?

If anyone has attempted something like this before, I would like to hear your experience.

Many thanks.
