How do I make a copy of a FigJam?

I tried the “Save as .jam” and then importing that into a new FigJam, but got the error:
www.figma.com says
Files failed to import…
File format not recognized or failed to convert

Also, where is documentation for the “Save as .jam” functionality? (e.g., what can you do with a .jam file?)
