Full Sized Interactive Layers Editor With Bulk Actions

  1. Describe the problem your experiencing and how your idea helps solve this

It is currently very difficult to keep layers ordered in the order you want them. If you do not duplicate from/to the right place then the layers in the column to the left end up in a different order than the order they are laid out in the main design area. This can happen especially when an entire group of objects is duplicated in one shot.

  1. Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.)

Example:

Suppose you have 12 variations of an object That you have laid out in 4 objects across (per row) and 3 down (column); and, in the main design area you want the sequence to go from left to right, top to bottom as you traverse the objects. If you don’t do it just right when you create it the layers in the left column (the layers pane) will not correspond sequentially but be in some different order where you have to skip around in order to see the objects traverse left to right, top to bottom in the main area. In other words the layers pane and the main design area may not correspond with one another.

The only way I know of is to manually move each layer in the layers pane, one-by-one until you get it into the order you desire. This is very arduous when you have a lot of layers and is heavily prone to error. Does there currently exist a convenient way to reorder the layers in the layers pane so that they do correspond with the sequence you desire in the main design area?

Perhaps a feature could be added to give us a full sized layers editor that allows some bulk actions to make it easier and faster. For example, it could allow you to easily select multiple layers corresponding to some criteria (think “similayer” like) and then allow you to perform reorganizing actions on them like grouping together, move all to bottom or move all to top and other things like that.
