Hunting for a specific font in the font selector could be greatly improved by a proper search field.
Sometimes fonts aren’t all packaged into one family but are listed separately. When I have a particular weight and style in mind, I can’t just type that in. Instead I have to find it in the big list.
This also comes up when I’ve installed a new font and I’m looking for it in the menu. The lack of a proper search field means there isn’t a true null state when the font I’m searching for can’t be found. This means it’s unclear to me whether the font isn’t listed or the search just isn’t working for some other reason. Usually I go hunting for it manually through the giant list in this situation.
