Who else Googled for solutions but ended up on this page?
It’s been almost 2 years and Figma still hasn’t solved this pain point. hmm…

@Figma_Support pleas note, this issue IS NOT actually resolved

The author of the tred says, that comments should move with nested elements as well, not just with top-level ones

It’s really easy to make this feature, and we all need it, please max out the priority of this one in your backlog

This is still an issue. comment seem to attach to sticky, and then randomly de-attach and half of the board is full or “orphaned” comments that nobody knows what they belong to. Its really annoying.

This has suddenly become an issue for me too. Comments that were once attached inside Figma have detached and appear to float on a surface level. When you first open a file, you see the comments in the correct places but once you zoom, the comment does not respond with zooming through the layers.

Every single time, I have to duplicate the page with comments, open a new page on one monitor, and the old one on another to review comments manually in order to avoid messing up all the comment positions. Then there comes another issue of managing versions. Some projects require working back and forth with clients, multiple rounds of feedback and changes (not even to mention different team members working in the same file). We end up with over 10 versions with comments scattered on each page (because we have to duplicate them), making it hard to track back instead of showing comments in a thread and in the same places.

Absolutely a great idea - let’s have this asap!

Help 🛟 I feel like this issue became way worse since sections have been introduced to Figma! @Gleb

I didn’t break it 😃

I’m having the same issue comments should be able to be pinned to artboards within an auto layout.

I was hoping that comments would also get pinned in prototype view, but it’s not the case.

Similar to this request here, @Figma_Support can we please look into having comments pinned to elements when comments are added from and shown on the Prototype (URL with figma.com/proto/), not just the File?

It doesn’t work.

When I move objects, the comments stay where they are. This doesn’t work as intended at all. This is a huge problem because working on very long pages with lots of comments is simply not feasible without losing the position of the comments.
I’ve attached a video that shows what I mean.

Almost two years, please please please update the ability to pin a comment to any design element. Or like otherwise mentioned, start with a component or nested frame at the very least.

We all know how essential comms. are between teams.

Chris_Gatland

I’m less bothered about pinning comments to frames, but surely when I click-drag to select a bunch of objects, the comments should be included in that selection so I can move everything together? Even this doesn’t work currently and comments have to be click-dragged individually after I’ve moved all the design elements they refer to.

Massive, massive pain in the arse.

It would be great if comments in Figma could be pinned to frames so that the context of a comment does not get lost when content changes.
Currently, when you make changes that e.g. increase the height of your frames, the context of the comments gets completely lost.

Comments on components are not moving.

Comments are useless if they don’t stick to original elements it was pointing to. As I add stuff to update from the comments and page size increase, everything is out of place and it’s useless…this was brought up 2yrs back, and no update yet?

This is badly needed. @Gleb @Figma_Support

yes please it’ll make our lives so much easier! I’ve lost countless comment context this way when communicating with our engineer

Agreed, not sure why this hasn’t been addressed with so much traction on the issue for years, it’s obviously still a problem for us. The comment does indeed stick to the frame which is fine if you don’t move any of the components, which is not all that useful when iterating on a design and things are constantly changing/moving around.

We need the comment pinned to the element/instance/component it was originally tagged to. Pretty please 🥺

I’m new to Figma and one of the things I found instantly annoying was the inability to pin comments to an element or frame. So frustrating and time-consuming to have to update these. MIRO does it perfectly!!

Joe_Pendlebury2

Considering all the latest and remarkable improvements made to Auto Layout, it’s perplexing that the essential need to “pin” comments to elements within Auto Layout components and containers remains unaddressed. Similarly, when elements are being shown or hidden through the use of Boolean properties, I would expect the comments to follow suit and display or conceal accordingly.

Please, I am begging you to add the feature where comments stay pinned to elements. I can’t believe it’s been 2 years of asking for this. Comments are basically useless without it.

So the user scenario is like… I have send my design to get reviewed by the client. He commented on the field where he want the changes.

I look up my Figma file & start working on it but the 😶‍🌫️ problem comes when I start removing the fields the comment is still below down there as I have created everything in auto layout, which caused the problem of remembering the comment where it is mentioned. If there is already any solution exist please let me know. 😀
