Figma Site: Gradient for stroke not supported

Hi Figma Team,

I encountered an issue while working on my design. I applied a gradient to the stroke of an element, which rendered perfectly in Figma. However, when I tried to publish the design to a live site, I received an error stating that "gradient stroke is not possible."

This was quite surprising, as applying gradients to strokes is a fairly basic and common design requirement. It enhances visual richness and is supported in many modern design tools.

Could you please help me understand why Figma doesn't support exporting gradient strokes, Is there a workaround or any upcoming update planned to support this functionality?

Looking forward to your clarification.

Hi @Admin16, thanks for your patience!

Gradients in strokes are not native CSS properties, so this would have required a complicated deep dive for our Sites team to build out. There isn’t a workaround for this yet, but it is on the team’s radar for the future.
