Hi there,

Hi there,

I hope this message reaches you in time. It sounds like your question is about the renewal process. Generally, you should be able to adjust the number of seats.

On an annual subscription, Figma will send any billing contacts a reminder 30 days before the renewal date. You can use the renewal process to:

  • Purchase extra seats for your next year of Figma
  • Remove any members who don’t need access
  • Cancel your subscription to prevent it from renewing
  1. From the file browser, switch to your Professional team in the sidebar and click Admin.
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. In Plan and billing section, select Add additional seats:
  4. Figma will show you the total number of full seats included in your subscription and the total Subscription cost.
  5. Add more seats to your annual plan if you plan on adding or removing collaborators.
  6. Enter the updated number in the field. Click outside of the field to apply.
  7. Click the Accept terms and upgrade button to complete the process.
  8. Figma will update the number of paid seats included in your annual plan. You won’t be charged until your actual annual billing date.
Figma Learn - Help Center

I think the best approach would be to contact the support team directly through this link: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. That way, you can get confirmation on your billing status. Be sure to use the email associated with your Figma account

Thanks,
Toku

Actually Add additional seats means as it states,

adding 1 means 1 unused Figma Design seat will be added …

no mentioning of adding or removing collaborators so to me it means, that I am able only to add new one :D
Not very transparent to me. Remove any members who don’t need access is nowhere to find. Can you please help.
Thank you

Hi @Andrew43, thanks for reaching out!

You can remove available (unassigned) seats at your next plan renewal.

  • For annual plans, this window is thirty days before your annual plan is set to renew, and you’ll see a banner at the top of your Figma admin. Click Review seats to open a modal to adjust the number of seats on your plan for your next renewal.
  • For monthly Professional plans, there is no renewal period. You can make changes to seats on a monthly subscription at any time. Any unassigned seats will not be renewed for the next month.

You can learn more about reducing seats here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039960434-Manage-seats-in-Figma#remove-seat

I’m having the same issue and this doesn’t make sense because the service says it is still going to charge me. I have a full set that I want to remove.

Hey @MingleMinds , thanks for reaching out to us. I see in the backend that you have already reached out to the support team, and they have removed the Full seat for you. Please check your inbox when you have a moment!

For others, here are some additional information that can be helpful for you:

When an admin approves a new seat, it is immediately added to the next invoice. The charges will include:

  1. A prorated charge for the number of days the seat was used in the current billing cycle.
  2. A full-month charge for the next billing cycle—unless the seat is removed before the new cycle starts.

Key Points:
âś” Prorated charges always apply for the days a seat is used.
âś” The full-month charge is only billed if the seat is still active when the next cycle begins.
âś” Removing a seat before the new cycle prevents future charges.

Example:

  • If a Dev seat is approved 3 days before the next billing cycle, the invoice will include:
    • A charge for $1.50, which is the prorated cost of 3 days worth of Dev seat usage on the Professional plan on monthly billing. This charge is added because an admin approved.
    • A charge for $15, which is the next month’s usage for user's seat.
  • If the seat is removed before the next cycle, the $15 charge is automatically canceled.

I hope this clarifies!
